The Oswego State softball team lost both games of a doubleheader against Utica on Wednesday afternoon. The Pioneers won the first game 8-0 and won the second game 5-0. Both games were played at the Laker Softball Diamond.
Utica 8, Oswego State 0
Utica scored seven runs in the top of the third inning and defeated the Lakers in a game that was shortened to five innings. Colleen Carmon and Missy Constanza managed the only two hits of the game for the Lakers and Susie Burt was the losing pitcher. Abby Drew hit a 3-run homer for the Pioneers in the third inning.
Utica 5, Oswego State 0
The Laker bats were silenced once again by Utica pitcher Kallie Mathis, who was the winning pitcher in both games. Oswego State's four hits came off the bats of Carolyn Agle, Sarah Castaldo, Heather Merino, and Jamie Robideau. Michelle Jackson took the loss for Oswego State.
The Lakers fell to 6-18 on the season and Utica is 22-6. Oswego State plays at Oneonta on Saturday and at New Paltz on Sunday.
