A matchup between two undefeated teams in the SUNYAC resulted in a 1-1 tie between Oswego State and Brockport on Friday afternoon in Oswego.
Oswego State opened the scoring just 3:03 into the contest when Mike Davis volleyed a shot into the goal on a pass from Tyler Cooper. The Lakers maintained the slim advantage for two-thirds of the game, but Brockport tied the match 1-1 on a corner kick in the 67th minute. Jeremy Hinckley crossed the ball from the left corner and it deflected into the net off of an Oswego State defender and the goalkeeper.
The game remained tied over the last 23 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute overtime periods. Brockport had the best chance to win the game in overtime when a close shot was saved by Laker goalkeeper Shaun Sessa and the rebound shot was cleared off the line by an Oswego State defender.
The game will count as a tie in the SUNYAC standings for both teams. Following the match, a penalty-kick shootout was held which Brockport won 3-2. That will be used as a tiebreaker should the teams finish tied in the standings at the end of the year.
Oswego State is now 6-3-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the SUNYAC. Brockport is 3-0-2 in conference play and 5-4-2 overall.
