Oswego State scores breaks century mark in win

The Oswego State women's basketball team defeated Buffalo State 101-74 on Saturday evening at Max Ziel Gymnasium. The Lakers honored seniors Lacey Kimpland, Lyndsey Marquit, Jessica Tremblay, and Kelly Mraz prior to the start of the game.

Six Oswego State players scored in double-figures in a balanced scoring performance. Jessica Tremblay and Alaina Hannahs led the way with 15 points each. Heather Merino had 14 points and Samantha Driscoll scored 13. Seniors Kelly Mraz (12) and Lacey Kimpland (10) also scored in double digits. The Lakers shot 58.6 percent from the field in the contest, and surpassed the 100-point mark on a pair of free throws by Jenna Wehn with six seconds left in the game.

Jacey Brooks led the Bengals with 18 points, Shareese Hamer added 12, Toya Parks scored 11, and Gina Apa had 10 for Buffalo State.

It was Oswego State's highest point total since they scored 108 points in a win against SUNYIT on Jan. 14, 2006.

The Lakers finished the regular season in third place in the SUNYAC with an 11-5 conference record and improved to 17-7 overall. Buffalo State is 7-18, and 4-12 in the SUNYAC. Oswego State will host a SUNYAC quarterfinal playoff game on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. against Oneonta.
