Buffalo State sweeps Lakers in softball series

Visiting Buffalo State won two games from Oswego State in SUNYAC play at the Laker Softball Diamond on Saturday afternoon. Buffalo State won the first game 7-1 and won the second game 8-0 in five innings. The Bengals are now 16-4 overall and 6-2 in the SUNYAC, while the Lakers are 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the conference.

Game One: Buffalo State 7, Oswego State 1

Buffalo State started strongly with two runs in the top of the first inning on a two-run single by Lauren Mruk. The Bengals added single runs in the third and fourth innings and three in the top of the sixth. The lone Oswego State run came in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run from Kelly Cooper.

Aimee Fisher was the winning pitcher for Buffalo State and Michelle Jackson took the loss for the Lakers.

Game Two: Buffalo State 8, Oswego State 0

Buffalo State held the Lakers to just four hits in the second game, and scored five times in the third and three times in the fourth to get the 8-0 win in five innings. Carolyn Agle, Colleen Carmon, Kelly Cooper, and Jessica Mills had the hits for the Lakers.

Starting pitcher Kaitlyn Thibodeau took the loss for Oswego State and was relieved by Michelle Jackson. Buffalo State's Nicole Sabuda was the winning pitcher with three strikeouts in five innings.
