Oswego State bats silenced

The Oswego State softball team lost two games in a doubleheader at Plattsburgh on Saturday. The Lakers dropped the first game 1-0 and the second by a score of 5-1. The Lakers are now 6-17 overall and 3-11 in the SUNYAC.

Plattsburgh 1, Oswego State 0

Oswego State was held to just two hits in the opening game, and they came off the bats of Jessica Mills and Ashley Mead. Plattsburgh scored the game's only run in the bottom of the third when Kirby Davids reached on a bunt single and eventually came in to score on a bases-loaded walk to Melissa Luciano.

Laker pitcher Michelle Jackson was very strong, allowing just the one run and five hits in six innings of work with 11 of the 18 outs recorded via the ground ball.

Plattsburgh 5, Oswego State 1

The Lakers scored their only run in the fourth inning when Sarah Castaldo singled in Carolyn Agle. It was one of two hits in the game for Castaldo, and Agle and Mills also scored. Stephanie Blood and Amy Woo homered for the Cardinals.

Michelle Jackson and Kaitlyn Thibodeau shared the pitching duties in the second game.
