Lakers drop regular-season finale to Union in overtime, 1-0

The Oswego State men's soccer team yielded the game's lone goal four minutes into the second sudden death overtime period in dropping a 1-0 decision to host Union College in its regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 1.

The Lakers (8-9-0) were held to only two shots for the entire game, while the host Dutchmen (11-3-3) registered 14 shots, with nine coming on goal.  Marc Zeyak came off the bench to tally the winning goal in the 104th minute, taking a far corner cross from Nicky Hoberman and putting it past Laker sophomore goalie Matt Wopperer (Manlius/Fayetteville-Manlius).

Wopperer finished with eight saves in the nets, while Union goalkeeper Rob Kramer stopped both Oswego shots.

The Lakers will travel to The College at Brockport to take on the Golden Eagles in the opening round of the SUNYAC Playoffs on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 1:00 p.m., with the winner facing SUNY Cortland in the semifinals on Saturday, Nov. 7 in Oneonta, NY at the National Soccer Hall of Fame Fields.
