The Oswego State softball team defeated Nazareth 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on Wednesday afternoon in Oswego, and lost the second 4-1 in eight innings.
The Lakers are now 15-14 and Nazareth is 17-17 on the season.

The Lakers took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on a leadoff double by Sarah Castaldo, followed by a pair of singles from Kelly Cooper and Erin Armstrong. Cooper eventually came in to score on a sacrifice fly from Melissa Ryan.
Nazareth tied the score in the top of the seventh, after Lizzie Barlow walked and Jennifer Linnan doubled. Barlow scored on a wild pitch and Linnan moved to third, and she scored on a sac fly by Lisa Nazarenko.
The Lakers won it in the bottom of the seventh on a leadoff homer by Erin Armstrong.
Michelle Jackson was the winning pitcher, and Castaldo and Armstrong had two hits each.
Nazareth 4, Oswego State 1 (8 inn.)
The teams played seven scoreless innings before the tiebreaker rule was instituted to start the eighth inning. With a runner on second base to start each half-inning, Nazareth broke through with four runs in the top of the eighth on a two-out grand slam by Laura Persico.
Oswego State answered with a run in the bottom of the eighth, on an RBI single by Sarah Castaldo. Two more runners reached base for Oswego State, and the tying run was at the plate but pitcher Lisa Nazarenko struck out the last two hitters to end the game. Michelle Jackson took the loss for the Lakers, and five players had hits for Oswego State.
