The Oswego State men's soccer teams evened its season record to 2-2 with it's second straight shutout at home, defeating Alfred University, 2-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Laker Field.
Sophomore forward German Colazzo (Freeport) provided all the scoring the Lakers would need, all coming in the first eleven minutes of the contest. His first goal came only 1:15 into the contest on the opening shot for either team, taking a crossing pass from senior midfielder Craig Nazare (Oakville, Ontario/St. Thomas Aquinas) and heading it into the net to left post. His second goal came from nearly the same spot at the 10:40 mark, shaking off an Alfred defender before scoring from 15 feet out.
The Oswego defense held the Saxons (0-5) at bay throughout the game, limiting the opposition to eight total shots (three in the first half). The Laker offense took 19 total shots, getting several good chances to increase their lead.
Sophomore goalkeeper Marcus LaRobardaire (Camden) did not face any serious challenge from Alfred, making only one save in the final minute of play to pick up his second career shutout and victory. Alfred goalie Elliot Thorpe stopped five shots.
The Lakers are idle until Tuesday, Sept. 16 when they face Hamilton College in a 4:00 p.m. home contest before hitting the road for the next three games, including their SUNYAC opener at Oneonta State on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 1:00 p.m.
