Laker spikers drop three-game decision to St. John Fisher

The Oswego State women's volleyball team, playing in their final tune-up match before SUNYAC West Division play later this week, dropped a 25-22, 27-25, 25-15 decision to St. John Fisher College on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at Lee Hall.  It was the second straight match for the Lakers in the classic gymnasium on campus as Max Ziel Gymnasium in Laker Hall is going through the final stages of floor refinishing in preparation for three days of SUNYAC divisional play this weekend.

Oswego (5-9) provided challenges for Fisher in the opening two games, with the Lakers reaching set point in the second game at 25-24, before yielding the next three points to the Cardinals (7-5) to end the match.

The freshman tandem of Jessica Isgro (Brockport) and Margaret Thorpe (Fulton/G. Ray Bodley) each tallied six kills each, with Isgro adding a pair of service aces and 12 digs.  Senior co-captain Amanda Cipriano (Solvay) compiled five kills to go with a team-leading 19 kills, while freshman setter Katie VanKessel (Milbrook) dished out 16 assists and tallied 11 digs.

Oswego kicks off SUNYAC West divisional play with it's lone match on Thursday against Morrisville State at 6:00 p.m.
