Overtime Magic Continues For Men's Soccer In 2-1 Win At Buffalo State

Senior Felipe Cavalcanti (Valatie, N.Y.) delivered another game-winning goal to give the Oswego State men's soccer team a 2-1 victory at Buffalo State on Friday afternoon. With the victory, the Lakers move to 3-1-0 in conference play and 4-6-0 overall. The Bengals fell to 1-2-1 in the league and 5-5-1 overall.

Senior Chris Carra (Endwell, N.Y.) put Oswego State on the board in the 38th minute when he put his own rebound in the back of the net.  The score stood at 1-0 heading into the intermission.

Buffalo State's Zack Eastman tied the game at one goal apiece when he got a rebound past Laker goaltender Matt Wopperer (Jr., Manilus, N.Y.) at the 74:36 mark.  The teams finished regulation knotted a 1-1 sending Oswego State into its third consecutive overtime contest.

In the extra frame, Greg Blette (Sr., Lakeview, N.Y.) hit Felipe Cavalcanti with a long pass upfield.  Cavalcanti put his shot just out of the reach of Bengal goaltender Brian Dudek with nearly three minutes elapsed in overtime.

Wopperer finished the game with one save, while Dudek recorded five stops.

The Lakers face Fredonia at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Fredonia.
