Hamilton tallied three second-half goals to hand the Oswego State men's soccer team a 3-0 loss on Tuesday afternoon in Clinton, N.Y. The Lakers outshot their opponent 12-9 in the final frame, but were unable to put the ball into the goal as they fell to 0-5-0 overall on the season.
Both squads played to a scoreless first half tie with Hamilton holding a small edge in shots at 8-6, but had five corner kick opportunities.
The Continentals got on the scoreboard when Jon Sanford scored in the 52nd minute of play when his shot was deflected by the defense. Oswego State turned up the intensity as it tried to create scoring chances, but Hamilton goalkeeper Eric Boole was up to the challenge as he made five of his six saves in the second half. The Continentals took a commanding 2-0 lead in the 82nd minute when Hennie Bosman tallied an unassisted goal. Less than five minutes later, Hamilton struck again as a Jesse Arroyave shot found the right corner of the net for the score. Matt Wopperer (Jr., Manilus, N.Y.) took the loss between the posts for Oswego, as he made three saves.
The Lakers start conference play against Cortland at home on Saturday at 1 p.m.
