With a 4-1 lead, the Oswego State men's soccer endured a late charge by Morrisville to earn a 4-3 road win on Saturday. Four different players tallied goals as the Lakers earned their first win of the season.

Junior Tony Greene (Schenectady, N.Y.) recorded an unassisted goal in the ninth minute, snapping a scoreless stretch of 460 minutes for Oswego State.  The Mustangs tied the game at 1-1 almost seven minutes later when Jarrett Hayes scored on Laker goalkeeper Matt Wopperer (Jr., Manilus, N.Y.)

Near the midway point of the first half, Oswego State regained the lead for good when forward Felipe Cavalcanti (Valatie, N.Y.) chipped a shot over the defense after receiving a pass from fellow captain Chris Carra (Sr., Endwell, N.Y.).  Sophomore Max Guliani (New York, N.Y.) padded the Laker lead in the waning moments of the period when he pounced on a rebound given up by Morrisville goalkeeper Greg Igglesden 27 seconds before halftime.

At the 47:26 mark, Jim Mertz (Sr., Rochester, N.Y.) tallied the eventual game-winner, giving Oswego State a seemingly insurmountable 4-1 advantage.  The Mustangs fought back to cut the deficit to one-goal over the next ten minutes as Chris Wisdom and Scott Morris recorded scores for Morrisville.  It would not be enough though as the Lakers held on for the 4-3 victory.

Wopperer made five saves and allowed three goals, as he picked up his first win of the season.  Igglesden stopped eight shots in the loss.

Oswego State, which is 1-6 on the season, will face Plattsburgh on Friday, Oct. 2 at 4 p.m.
