Box Score

The Oswego State women's basketball team forced the Plattsburgh offense to shoot 23.6 percent from the floor and led by as much as 21 points en route to a 61-47 road victory on Saturday afternoon. Kristen Diglio (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.) and Meagan Stover (Fr., Lake George, N.Y.) registered 13 points apiece on the offensive end, while Colleen McCready (Jr., Pittsford, N.Y.) made her presence felt in the paint with five blocks and 13 rebounds. The win moved the Lakers to 6-7 overall and 3-3 in the SUNYAC standings, while Plattsburgh dropped to 2-10 overall and 0-6 in the league.

Oswego State established a 17-9 lead after Diglio found Tricia Sullivan (Sr., Copenhagen, N.Y.) for a layup 10:39 into the contest.  The Cardinal defense then held the Lakers scoreless over the next four minutes until a pair of Stover buckets underneath coupled with a Traci Bacon (Jr., Massena, N.Y.) drive pushed the lead to nine points at 23-14.  Oswego State went into the locker room with a 34-24 advantage as two Diglio free throws ended the frame

Head coach Tracy Bruno's squad extended its lead early in the second half with three straight baskets to make the score 40-24.  The Laker defense took over from that point on as it limited Plattsburgh to a trey during a six-minute span to see its margin swell to 21 points with 4:27 remaining.  The Cardinals mounted a late charge, but would not be enough as Oswego State cruised to the 61-47 win.

Kayla Ryan (So., Schaghticoke, N.Y.) added 11 points for the Lakers, who shot 38.1 percent from the field on 24-of-63 shooting.  Taylor Amarando was the lone Plattsburgh player to reach double-digits with 13 points.

Oswego State squares off next weekend at home against Buffalo State on Friday, Jan. 22 at 6 p.m. and Fredonia on Sat., Jan. 23 at 2 p.m.
