The Oswego State women's basketball team used a 17-3 run midway through the second half to distance itself from Buffalo State en route to a 77-57 victory on Friday night at Max Ziel Gymnasium in Oswego. The Lakers shot 54.8 percent (17-of-31) in final frame, including 66.7 percent (4-of-6) from three-point range. Oswego State's starting five, led by Colleen McCready's 16 points and 11 rebounds, all reached double-digits. The Lakers moved to 7-7 overall and 4-3 in the SUNYAC, while the Bengals fell to 7-7 overall and 2-5 in the league.

Head coach Tracy Bruno's team held a 34-30 halftime advantage behind a 13-point half from captain Rachel Kohrs.  Oswego State pushed its lead to nine points at 44-35 after Kohrs dished to a slashing McCready in the lane with 15:59 remaining in the game.  However, Buffalo State responded with four points from Dee Layne and a layup by Yasmine Debnam to make the score 44-41.

Freshman Meagan Stover triggered the decisive run when she laid in a basket after receiving a feed from McCready.  As the Lakers started to score in the paint and the Bengals began to collapse, Kristen Diglio hit three key shots from long distance to help Oswego State sail to the 77-57 victory.

Traci Bacon almost joined McCready with a double-double after recording 11 points and grabbing nine boards.  Kohrs finished the game with 13 points followed by 12 points from Diglio and 10 points from Kayla Ryan. Dee Layne paced Buffalo State with 14 points.

Oswego State will face Fredonia on Saturday at home with a 2 p.m. tip-off, while Buffalo State will travel to Cortland to face the Red Dragons.
