Men's Soccer Falls In Final Game At Oneonta

Box Score

Two Oneonta goals in a 10-minute span doomed the Oswego State men's soccer team on Saturday afternoon as they were defeated by the Red Dragons by the score of 2-0 in Oneonta. The loss drops the Lakers to 5-10-1 overall and 3-6-0 in the SUNYAC, which leaves them ineligible for post-season play. Oneonta improves to 11-3-3 overall and 7-2-0 in conference play. The Red Dragons remain undefeated at home.

Oneonta controlled play in the first half, outshooting the Lakers 9-2. However, the game remained scoreless until the 42nd minute when Dan Josepher headed in a Mike Boland cross for his sixth goal of the season.

A foul in the box early in the second half allowed the Red Dragons to double their lead. Ian Tenzer netted his third marker of the season on a penalty kick in the 48th minute when he beat Laker goalie Marcus LaRobardiere

Oswego State fired nine shots in the second half, six of which were on goal to keep the pressure on, but couldn't convert on any chances. Oneonta earned seven corner kick chances, to only one for the Lakers during the game.

LaRobardiere finished the contest with five saves. Red Dragon netminder Maxwell Siegelman registered seven saves in the victory.
