Game 1 Box Score
Game 2 Box Score
The Oswego State softball team suffered a pair of losses to non-conference Union College by the scores of 7-4 and 5-4 on Tuesday afternoon in Schenectady, N.Y.
Brittany Carbacio (So., Pennellville, N.Y.) belted her first collegiate home run to right field in game two as part of a 2-for-4 performance. The Lakers fell to 3-27 overall, while the Dutchwomen improved to 22-8 on the season. Oswego State will wrap up its schedule at home with a pair of SUNYAC games on Friday and Saturday.
The Lakers got on the scoreboard in the first inning after Shannon Baker (So., Hannibal, N.Y.) stole second base to move into scoring position following a walk.  Marie Steding (Fr., Central Square, N.Y.) was thrown out at second as she tried to stretch out a single to right field into a double, but not before Baker came around to score.  Union tied the game in the bottom of the second after it took advantage of a lead-off double.
Oswego State regained a one-run lead in its next-at bat when Stephanie Sarcona (Fr., East Meadow, N.Y.) started the frame with a double to the gap in left center.  Laura Agle (Sr., Eden, N.Y.) successfully laid down the sacrifice bunt to advance the runner followed by a RBI-single off of Sue Schoff's (Fr., Little Falls, N.Y.) bat.  However, the Dutchwomen rallied for three runs in the fourth and fifth innings to go ahead 7-2.  The Lakers did not go down without a fight as the team started the frame with four straight singles capped off by Erin Tracy's (Sr., Pulaski, N.Y.) RBI hit.  Diana Lashinsky (Fr., West Islip, N.Y.) drove in the second run off the inning with a sacrifice fly to center field, as Oswego State made the score 7-4.  That was as close as the Lakers got as they went down in order in the top of the seventh.
Halie Bloom (Fr., Commack, N.Y.) suffered the loss after giving up four unearned runs on five hits over four innings, while Sarah Thayer (Fr., Winthrop, N.Y.) allowed three earned runs on four hits in two innings of relief.  Tiffany Ippoliti recorded the win for Union scattering eight hits in 5.1 innings for four runs, as Ginni Sack posted the save after pitching 1.2 hitless innings.
In the second game, Carbacio started a three-run Laker rally in the top of the second with her home run.  Later in the frame, Agle doubled in Tracy from third before eventually scoring after a Shannon Baker base knock.  Union got on the scoreboard in the fourth to cut its deficit to 3-1.  Oswego State answered back when Christine Linguanti's (Jr., Monroe, N.Y.) pinch-hit single drove in Ashley Sheridan (Jr., Syracuse, N.Y.).  However, the Dutchwomen rallied with two-RBI hits from Diana Polli in the fifth inning and Elizabeth Hackert in the sixth for the 5-4 win.
The Lakers tallied 11 hits, but were unable to pick up the timely hits as they stranded 11 runners over the course of the contest.  Marie Steding posted the loss despite going the distance on the mound allowing four earned runs on seven hits.  Oswego State chased the Union starter from the game after 1.2 innings before Sack came into the game for the win, giving up one unearned run on six hits.
The Lakers will host Potsdam on Friday at 3 p.m. before closing out the season against Plattsburgh on Saturday at 11 a.m.
