The Oswego State wrestling team bounced back from a 15-14 loss to Lycoming with a 41-5 victory versus King's College during the NY/PA Duals hosted by Oswego State on Saturday.  The Lakers improved to 2-2 in dual match competition this season and will participate in the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals next weekend at Lycoming College in Williamsport, Pa.

Oswego State got out to a quick 9-0 lead over Lycoming after Michael Gentilcore, Scott McGregor, and Chris Payne recorded close victories in the early weight classes.  However, the Warriors responded with wins at 149 and 157 pounds to make it a three-point match at 9-6. 

Marc Collins held on for the 5-4 win at 165 pounds against David Smith to put the Lakers ahead 12-6.  Cameron Mills, the eighth-ranked wrestler at 174 pounds in Division III, recorded a 6-2 decision as Oswego State took a 15-6 lead with three matches remaining, but both squads were deducted a penalty point for unsportsmanlike conduct to make the score 14-5.

Lycoming won the final three bouts, including a major decision at 184 pounds, to post the come-from-behind win.

The Lakers bounced back in a big way, though, with a 41-5 win over King's College that included two pins and a technical fall.  Chris Payne and Nick Rodgers record pins in 2:14 and 6:35 at 141 and 157 pounds, respectively.  Kevin Shirley earned a technical fall with a score of 17-1 in 5:41 as he received near-fall points on five separate occasions.  The Monarchs earned their only points of the match at 184 pounds when Mike Reilly, the fourth-ranked wrestler in the weight class, tallied a technical fall in 3:58.
