Another Late Goal Helps Men's Soccer Tie Ranked Cardinals

Box Score

Senior captain Bryan Pacchiana's (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) first goal of the season came with less than 10 minutes to play at Plattsburgh State on Saturday, helping the Oswego State men's soccer team tie the 13th ranked and unbeaten Cardinals 1-1 in SUNYAC action.

Andrew McBride (So., Syracuse, N.Y.) picked up the assist on the Lakers' (5-4-1, 0-3-1 SUNYAC) goal, which tied the game following Plattsburgh's (9-0-2, 1-0-2) goal just six minutes into the second half.

Laker goalkeeper P.J. Goodwin (Jr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) was very busy making seven saves in the game, including one in each of the overtime sessions.

Senior Max Guliani (New York, N.Y.) had the lone shot on goal in either overtime for the Lakers, but the attempt with just over two minutes left in the second overtime was turned away by Andy Heighington's fourth save of the game. Guliani led the Lakers with two shots on goal in the game and three shots overall.

The Cardinals won the shoot-out 5-4 with Mike Naab, Pacchiana, Adam Gray and Guliani finding the back of the net on the first four Laker attempts before two Oswego State misses gave Plattsburgh the shoot-out win.  The shoot-out was held to help with potential conference tiebreakers at the end of the season.

The Lakers return to action Tuesday with a make-up game at Hamilton College. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m.
