Box Score
The Brockport Golden Eagles scored a goal in each half to top the Oswego State men's soccer team 2-0 on a very windy Saturday at Laker Field in Oswego.
Fighting against the wind for the first 45 minutes, the Lakers (5-9-1, 0-7-1 SUNYAC) were unable to attempt a shot, while Brockport (9-3-1, 6-1-0) manged to send nine balls towards the net and scored when Paul Altobelli smacked a shot off Laker keeper
P.J. Goodwin's (Jr., Baldwinsville, N.Y.) hands. The ball got behind Goodwin and trickled into the net with some help from the wind.
With the wind at their back in the second half, Oswego State's
Mike Naab (So., Ontario, N.Y.) took the home team's first shot in the opening five minutes, but an easy save kept the Eagles' 1-0 lead in tact.
With 20 minutes left in the game, some nice low passing by Brockport allowed them to score going into the wind and seal the victory as Bobby Ross found Chris O'Gorman for the goal.
Naab and Zach Saccocio (Fr., Schenectady, N.Y.) each had shots on goal later in the game, but the Lakers had to settle for a 2-0 loss.
Oswego State wraps up the 2011 season on Saturday, Oct. 22 when it hosts Cortland (2-8-5, 1-5-2) on Senior Day at Laker Field at 1 p.m. as part of Family and Friends Weekend.
