The Oswego State volleyball team avoided a straight-set sweep against St. John Fisher after coming away with the third set, but fell short 3-1 (13-25, 7-25, 25-16, 19-25) Wednesday night in Rochester.  Caitlin Wright (So., Lockport, N.Y.) turned in an all-around performance posting seven kills and 12 digs for the Lakers, who are 1-5 overall.  The Cardinals improved to 1-5 this season.

Oswego State's offense struggled to get going in the match, but gained momentum in the third and fourth sets as evident by a .222 and .263 hitting percentage, respectively.  Lauren Weaver (Fr., Schoharie, N.Y.) also had a strong match with six kills and seven digs, while Stephanie Bailey (Fr., Scotia, N.Y.) contributed five kills and three solo blocks.  Setter Kara Michelsen (Lake View, N.Y.) handed out 22 assists with libero Sam Manicone (Copiague, N.Y.) adding ten digs.

The Lakers return to action Friday when they face Skidmore and Union on the first day of the Union Invitational.
