Canton, N.Y. -- The Oswego State volleyball team split two contests at the SUNY Canton Invitational on Friday night. Oswego took down Johnson State easily 3-0 (25-11, 25-6, 25-6) in its first matchup before falling to the host Kangaroos 3-1 (25-18, 24-26, 25-16, 25-20) in the nightcap.
In the first match of the season, the Lakers made quick work of Johnson State behind
Kelsey Dillon's seven kills.
Lauren Edwards put in a great effort as well, assisting on 13 attempts and serving six aces.
Emily Lamb also had six aces.
Meaghan Roefs chipped in five kills along with two service aces while
Lindsey Champitto and
Rachel Ruggaber also had two aces apiece.

In the night cap, Canton took the first game before the Lakers battled back to the second. The Kangaroos rebounded from Oswego's charge, however, take the next two games and the match.
Three Lakers had double digit kills, with
Sarah Meredith leading the way with 12.
Stephanie Bailey (11) and
Emma Moriarty (10) rounded out the group.
Edwards again led the team with assists, distributing 34 against Canton. She also had 10 digs along with
Meaghan Puff, which was one off the Lakers pace, set with Meredith's 11 digs. The freshman also led the team with three blocks.
The Lakers will return to action at 10 a.m. on Saturday with a contest against Paul Smith's College to finish up the Canton Invitational.
