Cortland, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team lost its six-game win streak on Friday night with a 3-1 (26-24, 25-8, 25-16, 25-13) loss to Cortland in SUNYAC Pool Play. With the loss, Oswego falls to 11-7 on the season and 0-1 in conference play.
The Lakers stormed out to a 26-24 win in the first set but could not regain that momentum the rest of the way, dropping three-straight sets.
Emma Moriarty led all players with 14 kills along with four digs and a block assist. Also chipping in double digits kills was
Megan Russell with 10.
Rachel Ruggaber led the way for Oswego with 14 digs while
Lauren Edwards set the pace with 33 assists. Edwards also aided the effort with 12 digs.
Stephanie Bailey, the reigning Oswego Female Athlete of the Week and Oswego Fall Classic MVP, put forth a solid performance with six kills and three blocks.
The Lakers will return to action at 10 a.m. on Saturday when they continue SUNYAC play in Cortland with Oneonta followed by Potsdam at 12:30 p.m.
