OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's swimming and diving team battled tough in a 146-138 loss against Clarkson University early Saturday afternoon at Laker Pool. With the defeat, Oswego moves to 1-3 on the young season while Clarkson improves to 1-1.
Despite losing the meet, Oswego senior Sabia Filaci fought valiantly, putting the Lakers squad in a position to win. Filaci impressed at Saturday's meet, winning the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:23.77 and finishing the 100-yard butterfly nearly five seconds quicker than anyone else. The Schenectady native also participated on the winning team of the 400-yard freestyle relay, providing the Lakers with another 11 points.

Kathryn McKinney also had an impressive outing, as she swam to a first place finish in the 50-yard freestyle and claimed second place in the 100-yard butterfly. Additionally, McKinney was one of Filaci's teammates who took home 11 points in a first place finish at the 400-yard freestyle relay, along with teammates
Natalie Brophy and
Kaylin Luhrs.
The Lakers will stay home for its next meet, hosting New Paltz at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
