BOX SCOREOSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State volleyball team went the distance with visiting St. John Fisher College on Wednesday night, eventually falling 3-2 (22-25, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20, 8-15) in Max Ziel Gymnasium. With the loss, the Lakers drop to 3-6 on the year while the Cardinals' win improves them to the same record.
Oswego and Fisher played a match of "anything-you-can-do, I-can-do-better" as the Cardinals won the first and third sets only to have the Lakers mirror the same exact score and outcome in the second and fourth. This led to match-deciding fifth set, where Fisher started with serve and took the game's first three points. Oswego tried to even the rally but ultimately fell 15-8.
Senior
Stephanie Bailey had an impressive outing, spiking a career-high 17 kills at a .452 clip to lead the Lakers.
Kelsey Dillon was also in double-figures in the category, earning 10 kills on the night, along with three block assists. Her three block assists trailed only Hannah Dalgren's four. Dahlgren also chipped in nine kills over the five-sets.
Lauren Edwards had a team-high 22 assists while
Lindsey Champitto and
Olivia Zimmerman both helped out with 11 and 10, respectively.
On defense,
Rachel Ruggaber had an Oswego-best 22 digs in the contest. The libero also added five assists and an ace. Helping her on defense were Champitto (10),
Kim Cassa (20) and
Sarah Meredith (19), all finishing with double-digit digs.
