OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team fell 18-10 to Plattsburgh Saturday afternoon at home on the South Athletic Field. With the loss, the Lakers fall to .500 (6-6) on the season and 0-4 in the SUNYAC. Plattsburgh improves 11-5 overall, 3-2 in the conference.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle, with four lead changes and four ties. Oswego was the first to get on the board as
Luke Krizman notched his ninth of the season just 2:15 into the game. Plattsburgh would tie it up only to go down again on a
Nick Giampaolo goal at the 12:28 mark. The game continued like this for three more goals. With the game tied at four, with 12:06 left in the second, the Cardinals would score two to Oswego's one to finish out the half.
Going into the third quarter, Oswego would tie it at six as the team took advantage of a man-up situation. Plattsburgh would score 40 seconds later and never give up the lead. Oswego would tack on three more goals in the fourth, but the Cardinals pulled away for the win.
Matt Palmer did most of the Laker goal-scoring, netting a career-high four on the day. Giampaolo finished the game with four points (1 goal, 3 assists), making him the 30th player in program history to record 100 points in a career.
Cody Hoose, another member of that club, finished with two assists.
Wyatt Russo played all 60 minutes between the popes for the Lakers, nabbing a season-high 16 saves.
Men's lacrosse will return to the field at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as it travels to Cortland to take on the Red Dragons.
