CORTLAND, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's lacrosse team fell 13-4 to No. 11 ranked Cortland Wednesday evening on the road at Stadium Red. With the loss, Oswego drops to below .500 for the first time on the year (6-7, 0-5 SUNYAC). Cortland improves to 11-4 overall, 5-0 in the conference.
The Lakers began the game how they wanted, with
Nick Giampaolo tallying the contests first goal at the 10:25 mark. Cortland would take over after that though scoring seven before halftime. Oswego was able to bookend the half, as
Matt Palmer scored off a
Brandon Dzwonkowski pass, but the team would take a 7-2 deficit into the locker room.
Going into the third quarter, Oswego once again came out firing, as
Tyler Nason cashed the period's first goal exactly two minutes in.
Cody Hoose would notch his sixth of the season just 6:33 later but that would be it for the Laker offense. The Red Dragons would pull away scoring six unanswered in the final quarter.
Aside from the aforementioned,
Luke Krizman was the only other Laker to notch a point as he assisted on two goals.
Wyatt Russo played all sixty between the pipes for Oswego, saving 12 on the day.
Men's lacrosse will return to action at 1 p.m. on Saturday as it hosts Geneseo in its final game of the season. The team will also be celebrating its 10 seniors for senior day.
