OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's swimming and diving team celebrated its Senior Day with a 156-100 victory over Potsdam in Laker Pool. Prior to the meet, the Lakers honored their four seniors:
Emily Doe,
Emily Karszes,
Allyson Stewart and
Alexandra Whalen. With the win, Oswego is now 7-3 on the season.
In all, the Lakers captured 13 events, including a medley and four different individuals with two-win outings. Burton and Karszes, along with
Riley Synan and
Emily Doe, each won a pair of events on the day.
Burton collected titles in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle, winning the 200 by more than four seconds and the 500 with nearly a minute margin. Karszes owned the breaststroke events in the meet, capturing the 100- and 200-yard variations of the competition. Synan was able to take home two 200-yard events, the butterfly (2:18.84) and the IM (2:23.86). Rounding out those with a double-dip in the winner's circle was Doe, who claimed the top spot in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle.
Also contributing wins on the day were Stephanie Noga (1000-yard free),
Natalie Brophy (100-yard backstroke), Abigail Mullet (100-yard butterfly) and
Kelly Lindner (3-meter dive).
The Lakers' medley victory came in the 400-yard relay, as Brophy,
Megan Kowalski, Synan and Doe teamed for nearly a 15-second win.
Oswego will round out its regular season slate with a 12 p.m. start at the Geneseo Invite
next Saturday. Following that will be a weekend without competition before the multi-day SUNYAC Championship on Feb. 17-20.
