RESULTS

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The Oswego State men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped its first contest of the season to the Rochester Institute of Technology on Wednesday evening. The men finished with 104 points compared to the Tigers 134; the women fell by a score of 163-75.

Oswego got on the board with its first win in the fourth event of the evening in the men's 1000-yard freestyle. Nicholas Weber swam with a purpose and sank the second-place swimmer from RIT by a length of the pool. His time of 10:27.19 was achieved by maintaining a solid pace, which hovered around 31 seconds per length.

Steph Noga recorded three second-place finishes in the 1000-yard freestyle, the 500-yard freestyle and as part of the 200-yard freestyle relay team. Riley Synan also contributed significantly to the final score with a couple of four-point finishes. In both events--the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yd butterfly--she completed the race less than a second behind first place.

More first place finishes on the men's side came in the form of Jay Choi in the 100-yard butterfly and breastroke with times of 55.55 and 1:02.99, respectively. Daniel Rodriguez topped the field in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:00.80. In diving, Luke Snyder dominated the one meter and three meter versions by a combined 79 points. For the women, Emily Ross dominated the rest of the swimmers in the 100-breastroke with her 1:15.66 time.

Wrapping up the evening, the men's and women's squads dominated the 200-yard freestyle relay. On both sides, the "A" and "B" teams placed before the first opposing relay team.

The Lakers return to the pool at 1 p.m. on Saturday for a dual meet against Oneonta.
