BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State women's swimming and diving teams earned a convincing 175-52 victory at Buffalo State on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Lakers move above .500 on the year with a 4-3 mark while the Bengals drop below .500 at 2-3.
Oswego opened the day with its first of 11 events wins in the 200-yard medley relay. The quartet of
Brittney Colon,
Maya Kaplan, Abigail Mullet and
Lorial Knack recorded 11 team points by completing the race in 1:41.30, nearly 30-seconds faster than its Bengal counterparts.
Kelsey Oliverio won two events for the Lakers on the day, starting with the top time in the 50-yard free (27.42). She followed that with a win in the 100-yard butterfly, posting a time of 1:03.04 for a four-second victory.
Riley Synan swam the 200-yard IM in 2:23.06, claiming the crown in the race by more than three seconds. The sophomore was not finished, however, picking up a triumph in the 100-yard free by less than a second (56.67).
Kayla Merrill touched the wall in 1:06.90 for a victory in the 100-yard backstroke while
Logan Turner both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle races.
On the diving boards, Megan Maquet won both the 1- and 3-meter events. She was the only diver to score more than 200 points on the 1-meter board (213.60) and tallied a 182.30 on the 3-meter board for a nearly 12-point margin of victory.
The Lakers capped the day as it began, with a relay win. In the 400-yard free. Turner, Synan,
Aran Kilcoyne and Julie Lamb captured a six-second victory with a time of 3:59.08.
Oswego will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday when it hosts Cortland in Laker Pool.
