OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State wrestling team defeated Alfred State by a score of 46-3 on Wednesday evening, which marks the least amount of points surrendered since the Lakers gave up three in a 42-3 win over Trine University on Jan. 9, 2015. Oswego improves to 4-9 on the year, snapping its four-match dual losing streak, while Alfred State falls to 7-7.

Jack DelDuca started off the evening where the Lakers would earned victories in all, but one match. The freshman was aggressive from the opening whistle, earning three takedowns and a four-point near fall in the first period. Holding a 10-2 advantage, DelDuca stretched it to 12-3 after two and then added another takedown plus a riding time point to earn the 15-5 major decision.

Max Kutepov nearly earned a major decision, but still dominated his Alfred State opponent by a final tally of 12-5. He took down his opponent twice in the first two periods, before earning a single drop in the final stanza.

Three Lakers won by pin fall on the evening with another three wrestlers advancing by forfeit. Evan Corso (133-lb), Michael Decapua (157-lb) and Kade Andrews (285-lb) earned six team points apiece as Alfred State did not send up a wrestler.

Joey Bush (2:53), Sean Maloney (4:46) and Jordan Bushey (2:10) all pinned their opponents. Bush started off with a takedown for two points and then recorded a couple of two-point near falls and a four-pointer before earning the pin. Maloney and Bushey earned a couple of takedowns in the first period of their matches, inserting clear dominance prior to ending by with a fall.

The 46-3 final score marks the most points the Oswego wrestling program has accumulated in a match since defeating RIT 50-0 at the Budd Whitehill Division III Duals on Jan. 15, 2010.

Wrestling returns to the mats on Saturday when they it travels to Berea, Ohio for the Baldwin Wallace Invitational.
