OSWEGO, N.Y. – The No. 9/10 Oswego State men's ice hockey team begins its regular season and conference slates with a 7 p.m. matchup with Cortland on Friday in the Marano Campus Center Arena. It will be First Responders Appreciation Night, as the Lakers have set 200 tickets aside for fans belonging to that group. Each First Responder will be able to secure two tickets until the allotment is gone. 

Oswego owns a pretty significant margin in the all-time series against the Red Dragons, winning 77 contests in 89 chances. The Lakers have won five-straight contests against Cortland, and 22 of their last 23 dating back to Feb. 16, 2007.
In two exhibition games thus far, the Lakers have tallied 10 goals, scoring five in each affair. Six Lakers have accounted for the 10 scores, with Tanner Spink (3), Mitch Emerson (2) and Joseph Molinaro (2) each having multiple goals. The Laker with the most points thus far, however, does not appear in the goal-scoring column. Junior-transfer Anthony Passero has assisted on exactly half of Oswego's goals in the two exhibition contests to lead the squad in points.

Despite Friday's tilt being the first of the regular season for Oswego, Cortland enters the contest with a 1-1 record. The Red Dragons opened their season on Friday with a 4-1 loss to Skidmore College but rebounded to shutout Lebanon Valley College 4-0 on Saturday. Five Cortland players scored a goal apiece, while Sean Perichak had an assist as well to lead the team with two points on the weekend.
