Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Ferebee's 22 Points Propels Lakers To Victory

OSWEGO, N.Y. - Behind 22 points from senior Jamir Ferebee, the Oswego State men's basketball team defeated the Buffalo State Bengals by a score of 69-59 on Friday evening.  The Lakers even their overall record at 11-11 and move to 8-7 in conference play.  Buffalo State falls to 8-14 (4-12).

The Lakers sprinted out of the gate in scoring the game's first 11 points, with junior Tyler Pierre leading the charge with four.  After the teams traded a few buckets, Oswego would go on an 8-0 run and push their lead to 21-4 with 11:04 left in the half.  Ferebee would nail a pair of 3-pointers to extend the Oswego lead to a game-high 18 points at 29-11 with just under eight minutes remaining.  Buffalo State would end the half on a 17-7 run, fueled by six points from Sir. Quintin Campbell inside, to cut the Laker lead to 36-28 at the half.

The Lakers out-shot the Bengals 45.2%-35.7% in the first half and out-rebounded them by a 24-16 edge.

Liam Sanborn gave the Lakers some breathing room by scoring the first five points of the second half on a jumper and a 3-pointer.  Buffalo State came right back with an 8-0 run to cut the Oswego lead to five at 41-36.  Every time the Bengals would close the gap, Oswego would answer to maintaining control of the game.  The closest the Bengals would get would be 52-49 with a little over eight minutes left in the contest, but a Sanborn jumper and Ferebee layup would extend the Laker lead out again.

Ferebee was joined in double digits in scoring by Pierre (13), Josh Ivey (12) and Sanborn (11).  Pierre added a game-high 13 rebounds on the defensive side of the ball.

The Lakers are back in action tomorrow at 4 p.m. when they return to the Max Ziel Gymnasium to take on Fredonia in conference action.
