Isaac Mathews and
Aidan Mathews, won bouts on Day 1 of the Ithaca Invitational to remain in the championship bracket heading into Saturday's competition.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Gramuglia and freshman Charlie Grygas both remain alive at the 165-pound weight class.
- Grygas won a pair of 10-4 decisions, the second over the eighth-seeded wrestler from Springfield College.
- After a bye, it was an 8-3 decision for Gramuglia over Christian Murphy from Johnson & Wales (R.I.) that keeps him in the championship round.
- One of the day's top performances came from freshman My'kle Thomas at the 285-weight class.
- Thomas opened with a 22-7 technical fall in his opener before scoring a fall (2:37) over sixth-seeded De'Shon Alexander of Johnson & Wales.
- Isaac Mathews came in seeded fifth at 174 and won a 2-0 decision and 3-2 tiebreaker victory to stay undefeated on the day.
- Aidan Mathews scored a fall (3:25) and a 9-7 sudden-victory over eight-seed Steven Rice of Ithaca.
- At 133, freshman Kaleb Carreon suffered a setback to the fourth-seeded wrestler in the weight class but recorded two falls and a 5-4 decision heading into the second day of action.
- In the same weight class, William Hardin II split a pair of decisions and remains in the hunt.
- Junior Caleb Beach went 3-2 on the day, winning a pair of falls and a decision at 157.

The team returns to Ithaca tomorrow at 10 a.m. for the conclusion of action on day two of the invitational.
