HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1:
  • Oswego would open the scoring in the first inning off a three-run homerun from senior Mike Dellicarri, bringing in freshman Paul Tammaro and sophomore Ryan Enos.
  • After a WNE response in the second inning, junior Rocco Leone would force an error on the WNE second baseman, allowing Justin Troelstra and Myles Felton to tie the game at 5-5 with scores resulting from Golden Bear errors.
  • Lukas Olsson would double in the fourth inning to give Oswego its first lead of the game, 7-5.
  • An eight-run, fifth inning put the Lakers behind 13-8 but three-run sixth put Oswego in striking distance.
  • WNE answered with three runs over the next two frames but Oswego was again able to cut the deficit to just two with an inning to play. In the eight, Oswego posted four runs, on doubles from Olsson and Brandon Nicholson, a single from Casey Gruarin and a sacrifice fly from Rocco Leone.
  • Matt Deblasio and Dellicarri both finished 3-for-5 on the day with two and three RBI, respectively.

Game 2:
  • The Lakers hot bats would continue in game two with the Golden Bears. In the second inning, the team would post six runs off five hits and an error to take a 6-0 lead after the top of the inning.
  • Oswego would tally another run in the third inning from a single to the left side from sophomore Jonathan Luppens, scoring Gruarin.
  • There would be no signs of slowing down from Oswego as it put up another five runs in the fourth inning. Deblasio hit a triple to left center, bringing in Dellicarri who would go on to score on an error by the shortstop. Shortly after, Luppens would hit a three-run homerun deep over the left-field fence.
  • Oswego would put up another three runs in the fifth inning, finishing the game with 14 hits while holding WNE to only one run.
  • Luppens finished 2-for-2 with four RBI.
  • Freshman Kieran Finnegan finished with 4.1 innings pitched, facing 20 batters and allowing just one run. Paul Christopher tossed the final two outs, forcing a batter to ground out and another to fly out.
