HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- Oswego was in position to score early after a single from Mike Dellicarri up the right side in the first inning. After a stolen base by Dellicarri, Lukas Olsson singled to the third baseman, advancing Dellicarri to third. Brockport was able to end the Laker threat, however, capturing an inning-ending strikeout.
- In the bottom of the second frame, Brockport would put up three runs and added another two runs in the fourth.
- The Lakers broke on to the scoreboard in the fifth, with three runs on four hits.
- After a walk to Dylan Frawley and a Rocco Leone double to right center, sophomore Ryan Enos singled to left field, scoring both Frawley and Leone.
- Freshman Paul Tammaro then singled to left field with two outs. Following Dellicarri being hit by a pitch, Olsson added a base knock to the left side to score Tammaro from second.
- Brockport expanded a two-run lead to seven with a five-run seventh but Oswego responded with an Olsson home run to deep center field in the eighth. The Golden Eagles tacked on three following the Olsson blast to put the game out of reach.
- Olsson finished 3-for-5 on the day, recording two RBI. Enos would follow suit with a pair of ribbies of his own, going 2-for-4 in the tilt.
- Matt Bowman garnered the start and threw six innings, falling to 1-1 on the year despite striking out six Golden Eagles.
Game 2
- Oswego and Brockport would be held scoreless through the first four innings of play, with Demarco recording five strikeouts during that span for the Lakers.
- Oswego would capitalize in the fifth inning after errors by both the second baseman and the shortstop. Brandon Nicholson would start the inning strong, knocking a single through the left side before Tammaro reached via an error.
- The Brockport pitcher would load the bases with a walk to Justin Troelstra.
- A failed double-play would score Nicholson and Tammaro, as the shortstop tried to get the speedy Leone at first, but the throw flew out of play. Troelstra was the casualty on the play, being forced out at second base before the failed turn.
- Leading 2-0 in the sixth, Oswego pushed another run on the board with a sacrifice bunt from Tamarro, scoring Matt Deblasio from third.
- Brockport tallied its only run of the game in the bottom of that frame but the Lakers quickly answered with two runs in their final at-bat.
- Enos started the inning with a lead-off triple down the right-field line and was immediately drove in by a double down the opposite line by Olsson.
- Olsson eventually crossed home when Nick Chilson singled through the right side, making it a 5-1 Laker advantage.
- Demarco put an exclamation point on the victory, earning his eighth and ninth strikeout of the seven-inning complete game for the final two outs. He scattered five hits over the game in order to improve to 2-1 on the young season.
