OSWEGO, N.Y. - The Oswego State volleyball swept Elmira and SUNY Canton on Saturday afternoon to move their record out to 8-3 on the young season. In the process, head coach
J.J. O'Connell recorded his 400th career victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the first match against Elmira, junior Melissa Lussier led Oswego with 12 kills while senior Shauna O'Flaherty added eight.
- The Laker defense, led by libero Emily Costa's match-high 15 digs, held Elmira to just 11 kills during the match.
- Senior Julia Flohr paced the offense with 14 assists and fellow senior Sarah Massie chipped in with five kills.
- Against Canton, senior Lauren Fie was a force with eight kills and six blocks.
- O'Flaherty just missed a double-double with nine kills and 14 digs.
- Costa again led all defenders with 16 digs as Oswego limited the 'Roos to just 10 kills in the match.
- At the conclusion of the tournament, Fie, Lussier and Costa were all named to the All-Tournament Team.
- For O'Connell, the pair of wins pushes his career record to 401-200 over 18 seasons as a collegiate head coach, the last eight being with Oswego.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers stay at home and kick off conference play with a 6 p.m. match against Cortland on Tuesday.
