OSWEGO, N.Y. – Down 2-1 heading into the third period, the Oswego State women's ice hockey team scored three unanswered goals to defeat the Morrisville State Mustangs by a score of 4-2 in a key NEWHL matchup that gives them the inside track for the second seed in the upcoming conference playoffs. The Lakers were led by junior
Philomena Teggart (1G, 1A) and senior
Kate Randazzo (1G, 1A).

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lakers got off to a quick start as they netted the first goal at the 5:18 mark of the opening period on a score by Randazzo and assist from Sara Cruise.
- Morrisville State tied the game with 2:26 to go in the second period on a goal by Mackenzie Lombardi. The assist was credited to Maddison Devlin.
- Lombardi scored her second goal just 18 seconds after tying the game, giving the Mustangs the 2-1 lead going into the third period.
- After two periods of play, the shots were 13-12 in favor of the Mustangs.
- The Lakers going into the third period were dominating the faceoff circle, leading Morrisville State 23-10.
- Megan Teachout scored Oswego's second goal at the 8:01 mark of the third period. The goal was assisted by Kyleigh Grugin and Bailey Thomas.
- This was Teachout's tenth goal of the year, leading the Lakers in that category.
- Oswego dominated the offensive zone in the third period and at the 11:23 mark Teggart scored a power-play goal to give the Lakers the eventual game-winner.
- Assists on Teggart's tally went to Amber Thomas and Randazzo.
- The Lakers extended their lead to two with 2:38 remaining in the period on a goal by Eryn Stewart during the power play.
- Teggart and A. Thomas added their second points of the night with the assists as Oswego out-shot Morrisville State 15-6 in the final period.
- Teachout (22), Stewart (21), A. Thomas (19) and Teggart (16) are the leading point scorers for Oswego on the season.
- Leading the Lakers in the faceoff circle was A. Thomas, winning 15 and only losing 7 of her total draws.
- Mia Conboy (8-1) and Cruise (7-1) also dominated in the faceoff circle.
- Rachael Farmer finished the game with 16 saves in picking up her ninth win of the season.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Lakers will travel east to take on the Pioneers of Utica College at 2 p.m. on Saturday in a non-conference matchup.
