ITHACA, N.Y. – Seven Oswego wrestlers, led by 2020 All-American
Charlie Grygas, remain in champion brackets after the opening day of action at the Ithaca Invitational. Grygas, seeded second in the 174-pound weight class, opened with a 20-4 technical fall victory before an 8-3 decision win in the second round.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- At 125, junior transfer Paul Wehr had a bye in the opening round with his seventh seed before scoring a fall (4:37) in the second round over Jabari Pinkney of Norwich.
- Senior CJ Walz won by major decision (15-3) and fall (0:58) to pit his sixth seed against the third seed from Stevens tomorrow morning.
- Both ranked Lakers at 165 remained in the Championship bracket as eighth seed Bryce Smith and second seed Isaac Mathews advanced to quarterfinal action.
- Smith won a pair of decisions (6-3, 13-7) and Mathews advanced with a bye and an 8-3 decision.
- Sophomore Anthony Cascen had a bye and then won by fall at 2:56 to make the quarters at 197.
- In the heavyweight class, freshman Jaden Hall kicked off his collegiate career by upsetting fifth seed Tyson Jones of Springfield by fall (7:00) and then advancing to the quarters with a 5-1 decision.
- Senior Logan McGloine went 1-1 on the day with a 10-4 decision setback before winning a 14-4 major decision in his second match at 149.
