HOW IT HAPPENED
Game 1
- As has been the trend, Oswego scored early when shortstop Paul Tammaro and outfielder Brendon Frank singled to put runners on the corners.
- After a Frank stolen base, senior second baseman Ryan Enos doubled to plate both runners and put the Lakers up 2-0.
- The score remained that way until the top of the fifth when Tammaro walked, Frank doubled and Enos was intentionally put on base.
- Reigning SUNYAC Player of the Week Kyle Lauria reached by an error to score Tammaro.
- Senior Ryan Weiss followed by crushing a grand slam to extend the Laker lead to 7-0.
- The Golden Knights got on the board with five singles and a bases-clearing double in the bottom of the sixth to cut the lead back to 7-5.
- The Lakers looked to regain control in the top of the seventh when Dylan Frawley singled home Myles Felton and Connor Stanton to extend the lead to four.
- Clarkson rallied with four in the bottom of the inning to make it 9-9.
- After a quiet eighth inning, the Oswego bats returned to form with Enos, Weiss and pinch-hitter Julian Drew all getting two-RBI-hits as the Lakers scored eight runs to put the game out of reach.
- Tammaro tied the Oswego single-game record with five hits in going 5-for-6 from the plate.
- In all, the first five batters for the Lakers went 15-for-29 with 13 RBI and 12 runs scored.
- Senior Ronald Loomis (2-1) earned the victory while striking out three Golden Knights.
- Classmate Jake Terrill pitched well, going 5.2 innings, allowing a single earned run and notching five strikeouts.
Game 2
- Things were quiet in the second game until the fifth when Oswego built a 3-0 lead behind a key Drew RBI-single to plate Felton and Weiss.
- Oswego scored again in the sixth on a Lauria RBI-single that brought Enos and Tim Schinto home.
- Just like in game one, Clarkson closed the gap late with four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to make it 5-4 heading into the final frame.
- And just like in game one, in crunch time, the Oswego offense delivered with four runs of their own to cruise to the win.
- Enos had the two-RBI single this time to bring in Jonathan Luppens and Hunter Holliday.
- Anthony Van Fossen (2-0) went 5.2 innings with three strikeouts for the win.
- Connor VanDreason finished the final 1.2 for his first save of the season, not allowing a hit and recording two K's.
