NCAA Digital Program

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - The NCAA Division III Baseball Committee has announced the 48 teams that will compete in the 2021 NCAA Division III Baseball Championship and Oswego State has earned a Pool C bid as the second seed in the Hartford, Connecticut Regional hosted by Trinity College.  Regional play will take place from Thursday, May 27 until Sunday, May 30.

Oswego is 24-5 and was projected to earn a bid based off of their strong record (6-3) against regionally-ranked opponents, excellent strength of schedule and overall win percentage.  The selection extends the Lakers' streak of appearances in the Championship to six-straight seasons, with the program having made appearances in the Division III World Series in 2017 and 2018.

Due to COVID-19 issues, the NCAA baseball tournament field was reduced for this season from 58 to 48 teams. Instead of the regional/super regional format that was first employed by Division III in 2019, the NCAA instead this year has temporarily gone back to six-team regionals, with each regional winner advancing to the NCAA Division III World Series June 4-9 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
