OSWEGO, N.Y. — SUNY Oswego Athletics has announced
Kira Wright (softball) and
Jonah Shearer (baseball) as its
April Student-Athletes of the Month, recognizing a pair of standout performers who led the Lakers to a strong start to the spring season.
Kira Wright has been selected as Athlete of the Month after putting together a dynamic and consistent offensive performance throughout the month. She hit .450 at the plate, collecting 23 hits while scoring 20 runs and driving in key opportunities for her team. Wright also showcased elite speed on the bases, recording 11 stolen bases and turning in six triples, consistently putting pressure on opposing defenses and creating scoring chances from anywhere on the field. Her ability to impact the game in multiple ways helped set the tone offensively all month long, earning her SUNYAC Athlete of the Week honors along the way.
Jonah Shearer has been named Athlete of the Month after delivering a consistent and reliable presence on the mound throughout the month. In 22 innings of work, Shearer posted a 4–0 record while maintaining a 2.86 ERA, limiting opponents to just seven earned runs across four starts. He also tallied 16 strikeouts, consistently working deep into games and giving his team strong outings each time he took the ball. His ability to control the pace of games, minimize damage, and secure wins in every start made him a key contributor to his team's success and a clear standout performer for the month.
