OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State Women's Volleyball extended their win streak to 11 games with a sweep over the Wells College Express this evening. Senior McKenna Corbin led the Lakers with 26 assists, five aces, and six blocks.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Kills by Sydney Chiffriller and Cara Simplicio paired with two attack errors by Wells would knot the game at four in the first set.

From there Oswego would go on a 10-1 run thanks to multiple Express' attack errors as well as kills from Georgia Farry, Catie Lilly, and Simplicio.

Wells would go on a small 3-0 run to try and claw back into the game

The Lakers rattled off six straight points via three aces from Corbin, two ball-handling errors, and a kill from Lilly.

Oswego would cruise the rest of the way for a set one victory, 25-15.

Set two was far more interesting than set one, as both teams went back-and-forth multiple times throughout.

Oswego would pull out to a 13-6 lead off of two Chiffriller aces to cap off a 6-0 run by the Lakers.

After Oswego went up 23-17, Wells continued to battle their way back into the game on a 6-1 run to make it 24-23.

A kill by Emma Fiorentine shut the door on the Express' hopes of a comeback in set two.

Both teams were knotted up at five a-piece to kick off set three.

Kills by Lilly, Chiffriller, and Emily Zeisler allowed Oswego to pull ahead to a 9-6 lead.

With a 10-8 lead, Oswego channeled six straight points on three attack errors, two aces by Corbin, and a kill by Grace Taylor to take full control at 16-8.

Wells would muster eight more points in the contest, but the final nail in the coffin was a Simplicio kill to give Oswego the 25-16 win, and the sweep.

Simplicio led the squad with 12 kills, as she continues to lead the team in that category.

Ally Natale racked up 13 kills in the contest for Oswego.
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego will travel to Brockport this Friday, October 7 for a 6:00 PM matchup vs the conference opponent Golden Eagles. Brockport is currently 13-4 overall and is in second place in the SUNYAC with a 3-0 conference record.
