THE BASICS

Final Score: Oswego 5, Ramapo 1 ; Oswego 8, Ramapo 4

Location:  Bing Tyus Yard, Polk State College, Winter Haven, Florida

Records:  Oswego 6-2, Ramapo 2-2

HOW IT HAPPENED

GAME 1

  • In the top of the first, Enos picked up right where he left off last weekend, roping a triple and later scoring on a Kyle Lauria single.

  • Senior Ryan Weiss would tack on two more with a single to right field, plating both Lauria and Lukas Olsson.

  • The Roadrunners scored their first and only run in the bottom of the second frame, making it a 3-1 ballgame.

  • After two scoreless innings for the Lakers, two drawn walks by CJ McCarthy and Blake Van Dreason set up Paul Tammaro to drive in a run, pushing the lead to 4-1.

  • Olsson would add an RBI of his own, plating Van Dreason on a sacrifice fly to right field leading to a final score of 5-1 in seven innings.

  • Starting pitcher Anthony Van Fossen went the distance for all seven innings, recording six strikeouts and only allowing one earned run on two hits.

  • Enos went 3-3 in the game, adding a walk, scoring a run, and totaled four stolen bases.

  • Oswego tallied five runs on six hits, drew seven walks, and went perfect in the field with zero errors.

GAME 2

  • Ramapo jumped into the lead this time, rallying with two outs to push a run across in the top of the first frame and making it 1-0.

  • The Lakers threatened in the second inning on a double by Julian Drew, but came up empty.

  • Colin Williams kicked off an opportunity in the third inning with a one-out single.

  • After a wild pitch and Kyle Lauria reaching-on-error, Williams came around to score and even the game at one.

  • In the fourth, Oswego utilized small-ball mentality in order to push across six runs to pull ahead 7-1.

  • The inning began with a Aidan Gallagher single, followed by a Joe McLaughlin hit-by-pitch.

  • A passed ball put both men in scoring position, which then allowed Gallagher to score via throwing error on a ball put in play by Frank Levanti

  • After McLaughlin was thrown out on a fielder's choice off the bat of Williams , Levanti scored on a wild pitch to tally their second run of the inning.

  • Back-to-back singles by Tammaro and Enos would score Williams to make it 4-1.

  • Jacob Levine then joined in on the scoring, hitting a sacrifice fly to send Tammaro home and extend the lead further.

  • A walk by Lauria and a double steal with Enos put two runners in scoring position, and both would easily be sent home on a single to center field by Tishawn Featherstone to cap off the inning.

  • Ramapo answered in the top of the fifth, putting up three unearned runs to narrow the deficit, 7-4.

  • Lauria would knock in the Lakers eighth and final run of the game after Tammaro and Enos again delivered back-to-back singles to start the inning.

  • The Roadrunners would go down without a fight, only recording one hit in the final two innings to give Sean Dertinger the six-out save.

  • The Laker pitching combination of Connor Van Dreason, Jai Sharma, and Dertinger recorded 11 strikeouts in the game and only allowed one earned run.
