Baseball Improves to 8-2 In Offensive Thriller

AUBURNDALE, FL  – The Oswego State Baseball team improved to 8-2 in an offensive thriller, putting up 15 runs in the first two innings against the Seahawks of Salve Regina. The Seahwaks battled their way back but were no match for the Laker offense. Ryan Enos his early success going as he went 2-4 with four RBI's and three runs. Drew, Tammaro, Levine and B. Van Dreason also all collected three runs scored throughout the contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Seahawks got off to a fast start as they put two on the board with a homerun to right center field, JUST making it over the fence.
  • After a leadoff single by Paul Tammaro, Ryan Enos continued his at plate threat as he ripped a double to left center field, earning an RBI as Tammaro scored. 
  • Kyle Lauria laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt to move Enos, the tying run to third with one out. 
  • Lukas Olsson then walked. 
  • Julian Drew roped a double in almost identical fashion as Enos, tying the game for the Lakers as Enos scored. 
  • Jacob Levine continued the trend as he stroked one off the right field fence, Levine earned two RBI's, scoring Olsson and Drew to give the Lakers the two-run lead (4-2). 
  • Levine stole second, just before Tishawn Featherstone walked. 
  • Blake Van Dreason doubled to right field, advancing Featherstone to third and Levine to second. 
  • Featherstone was picked off on third base with a snappy throw from the Salve Regina catcher. 
  • Tim Shinto was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second. 
  • Enos doubled to right center field as Tammaro and Schinto scored, Enos' third RBI of the inning. 
  • On a hit and run, Lauria struck out and Tammaro was thrown out at third, ending the inning with the Lakers in the lead 7-2. 
  • The Seahawks in the top of the second had no runs on one hit and left two on base. 
  • Lukas Olsson led off the bottom of the second inning and was hit by a pitch. 
  • Drew then reached on an error by the third baseman, Olsson advanced to second. 
  • Levine also reached on an error, Drew and Olsson advanced to second and third, bases loaded. 
  • The Lakers drew four walks and Enos was hit by a pitch with two outs and the bases loaded to bring in four runs for the Green and Gold, bringing the score to 11-2. 
  • Olsson doubled, bringing in two RBI's as Tammaro and Enos crossed the plate. 
  • Drew then got his second hit of the inning, bringing in Kyle Lauria and Olsson to bring the lead to 13 runs (15-2). 
  • In the third inning, the Seahawks put up two runs off of a two-out triple and a wild pitch. 
  • The Lakers went scoreless in the third inning. 
  • Salve Regina got the bats going as they scored two more runs in the top of the fourth inning, bringing the Oswego lead to 15-7.
  • Oswego also brought the bats in the fourth inning as Brian Brezosky singled to left field, driving in two runs. Levine and Greg Carullo scored after Carrulo walked and Levine singled to center. 
  • Brezosky and Blake Van Dreason found home plate, Van Dreason stole home and Brezosky was driven in by Tammaro single straight to the pitcher. 
  • The Seahawks brought home four more runs, chipping away at the Laker lead. The lead now stood at eight runs (19-11). 
  • Salve Regina kept chipping away at the lead as they scored another two runs in the seventh inning, due to a two RBI single. 
  • Lauria knocked in Tammaro and moved Enos to third after both walked to get on base. 
  • Carullo hit a high fly ball to left field, earning an RBI on the sacrifice fly to which Enos tagged and scored, this brought the Laker lead back to eight runs (21-3). 
  • The Seahawks weren't finished yet as in the eighth inning they hit a two-run homerun to cut the lead back to six. 
  • Featherstone tripled and scored on an error by the centerfielder to start the bottom of the eight inning. 
  • Sophomore Jake Danyluk faced 13 batters allowing only three hits, and struck out six, including striking out the side in the top of the ninth inning to end it for the Lakers. 
  • Jacob Sanders finished the contest with 23 batters faced in four innings, striking out five. 
  • Alek Conrad faced eight batters, allowed four hits and had one strikeout. 

WHAT'S NEXT

Oswego State will continue their spring break by heading to Davenport, Florida Thursday March 17 to take on Beloit College at 1:15.
