Swimming and Diving Looks Toward SUNYAC Championships

POTSDAM, N.Y. – The Oswego State Men's and Women's swimming & diving teams defeated the SUNY Potsdam Bears in their last meet of the season. Zachary Brown capped off a sensational senior season, winning three races on Saturday to go undefeated in individual races.

THE BASICS

  • Final Scores:  Oswego Men 145, Potsdam Men 119

             Oswego Women 129, Potsdam Women 125

            Oswego Women 2-8, Potsdam Women 1-6
     

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Lakers won 16 of the 30 races, and Vincent Mullen was able to clinch nine points for the Lakers in the Men 1 Meter Dive.

  • Zachary Brown went three for three on the day in his individual races, including the Men 100 (59.29) and 200 (2:17.57) Yard Breaststroke, and the Men 200 Yard IM (2:04.30).

  • Jayna Laferriere also won three races: the Women 100 (58.02) and 200 Yard (2:06.25) Freestyle and the Women 200 Yard IM (2:27.65).

  • Emily Lotito won the Women 100 Yard (1:15.12) and 200 Yard (2:41.54) Breaststroke.

  • Ryan Liedka won the Men 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 11:06.57.

  • Maura Moochler won the Women 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 26.93. Matt Seyse won the Men 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 22.65.

  • Fion Hon won the Women 200 Yard Backstroke with a time of 2:30.32.

  • Abigail Hinman won the Women 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 1:10.55.

  • Moochler, Lotito, Hinman, and Alexia Lemus won the Women 200 Yard Medley Relay with a time of 1:59.09.

  • Jack Olsian, Seyse, Alex Jenks, and Mullen won the Men 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, combining to finish with a time of 1:31.27.

  • The Women's meet came down to the final race of the day, the Women 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, with the Lakers down 118-121. The team of Moochler, Lemus, Hon and Laferriere put in an incredible performance, finishing 11 seconds ahead of Potsdam with a time of 1:48.52. The victory in the race earned the Laker women a hard-fought victory to end the season on a high note.

WHAT'S NEXT

The Lakers will travel to Erie Community College in Buffalo to compete in the SUNYAC Swimming and Diving Championships.
