BUFFALO, N.Y. – The Oswego State swimming & diving teams began their third day of the SUNYAC Championships this afternoon. The men dropped back one place into fifth place, while the women fell into ninth place.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The women had two swimmers who made the B-finals for the 400 IM race. Finishing in second place for the race was Anna Baker, who earned seven points with a time of 5:10.87s. Taking fifth place in the race was Fion Hon, who finished with a time of 5:16.72s. Hon earned the team four points.

The men had one swimmer make the B-final for the 400 IM finals. Ryan Liedka took seventh in the final, finishing with a time of 4:45.12s. Liedka earned two points for the team with his finish.

Abby Hinman earned one point for the Lakers with her eighth place finish in the women's 100 fly group B finals. Hinman finished with a time of 1:04.87s.

Jayna Laferriere was the lone Laker who qualified for the finals in the women's 200 yard freestyle. Laferriere took fourth in the B-final, with a time of 1:59.94s, which earned five points for the Lakers.

For the men, there were two qualifiers in the B-finals for the 200 yard freestyle. Finishing in fourth was Erick Zizic, with a time of 1:47.70s. Jack Olsian finished in eighth for the finals race, with a time of 1:54.60s. Zizic earned five points for the men, while Olsian earned the team one.

Emily Lotito qualified for the A-final of the women's 100 yard breaststroke. Lotito finished with a time of 1:10.07s, which was enough to get her sixth place. Lotito earned 13 points for the team for her finish.

The men had two Lakers qualify for the 100 yard breaststroke finals, one in the A, and one in the B. Zach Brown finished third in the A-final, with a time of 56.12s, .06s away from taking second place. Ray Paull placed fifth in the B-final, with a time of 1:00.80s. Brown earned the team 16 points, while Paull earned four.

Oswego had two women in the 1 meter diving, group B finals. Jessica Pelkey finished fifth with 260.90 points, and Mackenzie Jewett took eighth place with 258.35 points. Pelkey earned four points, and Jewett earned one point.

The women took seventh in the 400 yard medley relay, with a time of 4:17.17s. Racing for the Lakers was Maura Moochler, Emily Lotito, Abby Hinman, and Jayna Laferriere, earning 24 points for the team.

For the men's 400 yard medley relay, they were able to get fifth place with a time of 3:37.06s. Racing for Oswego was Zach Brown, Nathan Ratta Vine, Ray Paull, and Matt Seyse, who earned 28 points for the team.

The Lakers will finish their competition for the SUNYAC Championship tomorrow, Saturday, February 18th.
