OSWEGO, N.Y. – The Oswego State men's tennis team defeated the Utica Pioneers in a one-sided affair that saw Ethan Bannochie have a dominant day by winning both his doubles and singles matches.

HOW IT HAPPENED

In total, eight matches were played, with Oswego being awarded an additional win due to a late withdrawal.

In doubles, Zachary Demott and Raymond Paull struck first, nabbing an 8-2 victory over Utica's Gaynay Doo and Jack Paute.

Bannochie and Anthony Marcano secured another win, defeating Utica's Hunter Sanford and Brad Litz by a score of 8 games to 3.

Marcano and Austin Davis completed a clean sweep in doubles for the Lakers, winning 8-6 over Utica's Richard Nguyen and Damian Bruce.

In singles, Marcano defeated Sanford 6-4, 6-4, but narrowly fell to Bruce in the next match by a close score of 6-6*, 5-7.

Davis won the next match over Nguyen, coming back after dropping the first set to take a 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 victory.

As mentioned above, Bannochie had the most dominant performance of the day, defeating Gaynay Doo 6-0, 6-0.

Demott won the last played match of the day, defeating Paute 6-4, 6-3.

The additional match awarded to Oswego via withdrawal gave Liam Reira the win.
WHAT'S NEXT
The men will travel to Rochester to take on St. John Fisher on Friday, April 7, and will hope to continue the success they had against the Pioneers Wednesday evening.
