OSWEGO, NY – The SUNY Oswego men's ice hockey team is set to kick off their 2024-25 campaign on Saturday when they take on Kings College in an exhibition game. Head Coach
Ed Gosek will be in his 21
st season at the helm for the Lakers with an overall record of 392-133-33.
After graduating 13 seniors last season, Oswego has added 19 new student-athletes to the roster this season.
Patrick Haughian is a defender from Stittsville, Ontario. Patrick joins the program after three seasons with the Kemptville 73's of the CCHL. This past season Patrick was named team Captain and was a league all-star selection while registering 17 points for the 73's.
Adam Grenier is a new forward from Coquitlam, British Columbia. Adam joins the program from the Drayton Valley Thunder of the AJHL where he was the team captain and produced 56 points this past season. Adam was also named the Thunder's team MVP.
Andrew Harley, a transfer from SUNY Brockport, is a senior forward. Andrew joins the program after completing 4 seasons with the Brockport Golden Eagles. Harley was an assistant captain last season and notched 74 points in 77 games during his time. He was also named to the all-conference third team in 2021-2022.
Niklas Miller comes to the Lakers from Howell, Michigan and is a forward. Nik joins the program after three seasons in the NAHL. This past season Nik was with the St. Cloud Norseman of the NAHL where he was team captain and produced 21 points in an injury shortened season.
Josh Simpson is a defender that is from Ajax, Ontario. Josh joins the program after two seasons with the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the AJHL where he produced 26 points this past season. Josh was also named the Pontiacs team Unsung Hero.
A forward from Bolton, Ontario,
Marco Iozzo is now a Laker. Marco joins the program from the St. Michaels Buzzers of the OJHL where he was an assistant captain and a top ten scorer finishing with 75 points.
Justin Ryan is a Forward who comes to Oswego from Endwell, New York. Justin joins the program from the NCDC Champion South Shore Kings. During the 23-24' season, Justin was a NCDC All-Star selection producing 53 points. A mid-season addition, Justin also added 10 pts in the playoffs including the Championship overtime winning goal.
Lucca Munoz is from Chicago, Illinois and will be a forward for the Lakers. Lucca joins the program after three seasons in the NAHL. This past season Lucca was with the St. Cloud Norseman where he recorded 25 points and was selected to the league Top Prospects Showcase.
Brandon Cohen will be a forward and comes to the Lakers from Toronto, Ontario. Brandon joins the program from the St. Michaels Buzzers of the OJHL where he was the team captain and a top ten scorer finishing with 75 points.
Colin Vassallo is from Buffalo, New York and is a new forward for Oswego. Colin joins the program from the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL where he produced 33 points. Prior to Shreveport, Colin was the leading scorer for the Pembroke Lumber Kings of the CCHL.
From Middletown, New Jersey,
Mike Kocsis is a transfer forward from Arcadia University. Mike joins the program after completing 3 seasons with the Arcadia Knights. During the 23-24 season, Mike tallied 25 points and was named an honorable mention to the All-MAC conference team.
Aidan Cooper is a defender that is from Rothesay, New Brunswick. Aidan joins the program after three seasons with the Carleton Place Canadians of the CCHL. This past season Aidan was named an assistant captain and league all-star while producing 31 points.
From Derwood, Maryland,
Jesse Horacek will be a forward this season for the Oswego Lakers. Jesse joins the program after four years with the Maryland Black Bears of the NAHL. An assistant captain and two-time Top Prospect selection, Jesse produced 45 points this past season.
Michael Urgo is a forward from Davidsonville, Maryland. He joins the program from the Maryland Black Bears of the NAHL. This past season Mikie registered 16 points while helping the Black Bears reach the league championship.
A new forward,
Ryan Burke, is from London, Ontario. Ryan joins the program after two seasons with the Shreveport Mudbugs of the NAHL. This past season Ryan was a Top Prospect selection, and he broke the single season scoring record for the Mudbugs notching 63 points.
Anthony Zolezzi is a goalie from Oswego, Illinois. Anthony joins the program after one season with the Soo Eagles of the NOJHL. Last season with the Soo, Anthony played the third highest number of minutes in the league finishing with a record of 18-14-2.
Gavin McCarthy, an incoming goalie, is from Athens, Ontario. Gavin joins the program after two seasons with the Oakville Blades of the OJHL. A team captain and OJHL All-Star, Gavin was within the top three OJHL netminders in multiple categories such as save percentage, minutes played and saves.
Shaymus Stevenson will be a forward for the Lakers and is from Dryden, Ontario. Shaymus joins the program after three seasons with the Smiths Falls Bears of the CCHL. A breakout season in 23-24 saw Shaymus named the most outstanding graduate player in the CCHL and a league all-star with his 57 points.
Nico Paone, an incoming defender, is from Niagara Falls, Ontario. Nico joins the program after three seasons with the Navan Grads of the CCHL. A CCHL league champion in 23-24, Nico played in integral role being named a league all-star and leading all defense in scoring with 43 points and a blistering 1.54 points per game.
The Lakers also return 9 athletes from last years team that finished with a record of 16-9-1.
Brandon Milberg, a goalie, returns for his junior season with Oswego. Forwards

Brett Fudger also return for the 2024, 25 season. On defense,

Jonathan Balah are back and ready to take the ice in the Deboarh F. Stanley Arena.
