HOW IT HAPPENED
The Red Dragons won the tip-off to open the game, but Oswego quickly set the tone with back-to-back layups from Xavier Allen and Ahkee Anderson. Both teams brought high energy, exchanging possessions in a fast-paced opening stretch. Oneonta claimed their first lead—by a single point—three minutes into the game with a layup, followed by a free throw to extend their advantage. The Lakers responded decisively, tying the game at 8-8, but the Red Dragons adjusted their strategy and began to build momentum. They found openings in Oswego's defense, pulling ahead 17-11 with 12 minutes left in the half. Refusing to back down, Oswego ramped up their efforts. Steven Bradley sparked the offense, sinking two three-pointers and a jumper in a thrilling sequence that put the Lakers back in front by one point. Both teams traded scoring runs as neither could sustain a significant lead. The Lakers closed the half on a high note, with Anderson knocking down a jumper after a key defensive rebound by Tucker Rosbrook. Oswego headed into the locker room with a narrow 38-36 lead.
The Lakers returned to the court with renewed energy and strong communication, quickly extending their lead to eight points with layups from Cole Kattan and Deacon Judd, pushing the scoreboard to 46-36. Oneonta adjusted their strategy and responded with back-to-back three-pointers, narrowing the gap to just four points. Despite the Red Dragons' surge, the Lakers maintained their momentum, regaining a ten-point lead four minutes later at 57-47. The Red Dragons continued to press in an attempt to shift the tide, but Oswego's offense remained consistent. Kattan added two crucial three-pointers, complemented by jumpers from Allen and Anderson, giving the Lakers a 67-56 lead with just over eight minutes remaining. The Lakers extended their advantage to 73-60 before Oneonta managed to chip away at the lead with two quick three-pointers, narrowing the margin to 76-70. With a minute left on the clock, Oswego called a full timeout to regroup before closing out the game. Bradley brought the Lakers to 80 points with a layup and two free throws, followed by additional free throws from Kattan and Anderson. Holding possession for the final seconds, Oswego secured a well-earned 83-70 victory.
