Day 3 Recap From SUNYAC Swim & Dive Championship

OSWEGO, NY- The Men's and Women's Swimming and Diving teams competed in day three of the 2023-2024 SUNYAC Championships. In prelims, Zachary Brown broke the school record and the meet record for the men's 100 breaststroke. In finals, he rebroke his school and meet record from the morning and additionally broke the conference record. Matthew Dambra broke the school record for the men's 100 backstroke in his prelim swim and tied his record later in the 400 Medley Relay.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Brown broke his own school record, and also broke the meet record by .04 for the 100 Breaststroke in his first place preliminary swim with a time of 55.53. In finals he came back even faster for a first place win with a 55.21. This finals time rebroke the school and meet record, and additionally broke the conference record.

Dambra broke the school record for the men's 100 Backstroke by .22 with a time of 53.24 in eighth place. In the finals he placed again in eighth with a time of 53.71.
In the 400 IM prelims, Jake Sarnowksi finished eighth for the men. For finals, he swam a 4:28.73 placing 7th.

Izzy Dague placed fourth, Anna Baker ninth, and Fion Hon 12th in the women's 400 IM prelims. For finals, Dague medaled with a 4:47.65 for third place. Baker placed ninth (5:02.83) and Hon 13th (5:11.48).
Abby Hinman finished 15th in the 100 Butterfly prelims. She swam a 1:04.75 good for 14th place in finals.

For the 200 Freestyle, Ryan Murphy placed 14th and Duncan Smith 16th for the men. In finals, Murphy placed 15th (1:51.49) and Smith 16th (1:52.14).

For the women, Jayna Laferriere placed seventh and Chloe Brown 13th for the women. At finals, Laferriere placed 6th with a 1:59.61. Brown finished 15th (2:09.06).

Nathan Ratta Vine placed seventh in the men's 100 Breaststroke. In finals he swam a 59.16 earning sixth place.

For the women, Lotito placed sixth, McKenna Briggs 10th and Aurora Jarvie finished 12th in prelims. In finals, Lotito placed sixth (1:10.49), Briggs 11th (1:12.23), and Jarvie 13th (1:13.29).

In the women's 100 Backstroke prelims Maura Waite placed 8th. She came back at finals with a 1:04.66 in eighth place.

The night concluded with the 400 Medley Relay. Finishing in fourth was the women's team of Dague, Lotito, Hinman, and Laferriere in 4:14.24. The men's team of Dambra, Ratta Vine, Brown, and Vincent Mullen placed fifth with a time of 3:33.08.
 
 
WHAT'S NEXT
Oswego State Swimming and Diving return to the pool for the last day of championships February 24. Preliminary swims and diving begin at 10 a.m. and finals begin at 5:30 p.m.
